Making use of our abrasive waterjet cutting services and our milling expertise, Aerospace Alloys manufactures custom gas turbine and heat exchanger frames, designed for power generation and HVAC systems in an aircraft. We manufacture our turbine and heat exchanger frames from a choice of materials: Alloy-X, C263, and Alloy 625, and can work with material between 7/8” and 2” thick. Once we acquire the base material, we use abrasive waterjet cutting for blanks, and then a milling machining process to achieve the finished part.
Depending upon customer specifications, we can manufacture turbine frames and heat exchanger frames in dimensions up to 28” x 16”, with a finished weight typically between 20 and 50 lbs. We are able to ...

Flashing is a concern in nearly any manufacturing process, and Aerospace Alloys provides an efficient solution: our abrasive waterjet cutting capabilities are used to remove flashing from aerospace turbine engine blades constructed from 421 stainless steel. Using abrasive waterjet cutting as opposed to another material removal process has the benefit of no heat affected zone, which allows for greater ease of machining, and it does not distort the physical properties of the material.
The abrasive waterjet cutting process allows for a tolerance to ± .050”, and the individual blades that we work with measure 48” x 8”. We typically run this process on 3000 to 5000 pieces per year, adding speed and accuracy to typical flashing ...

Aerospace Alloys demonstrates our wide range of expertise across machining processes and materials, and in holding tight tolerances. Working with both aluminum material and nickel-based alloys, we carry out the entire manufacturing process of this heat exchanger’s parts. We put our EDM services to use in cutting aluminum bar and finned coil, and our abrasive waterjet cutting capability is used to cut the top frame shown in this image. A milling process is also applied to machine the frame to its finished size.
Since the units can be as large as several feet tall, to as small as a few inches, tight tolerance is of great importance. Every item manufactured for this unit is manufactured to within ± .001” tolerance, ensuring ...

Aerospace undertook this project to manufacture prototype through production quantities of these featured beer tap handles. Because the relative volume of the order was small, we were able to eliminate the associated tooling costs by using abrasive water jet cutting machines.
Using a customer supplied print, we waterjet cut custom architectural metal fabrication beer taps in accordance with our client’s specifications. We worked with stainless steel, aluminum, and brass base materials, and each beer tap handle featured a material thickness from 1/16” to ¼”. The overall product length varied from 8” to 12”, while product width varied between 2” and 4” in measurement. Throughout manufacturing, the tightest tolerance we upheld was ...

Using our superior XD abrasive waterjet cutting machine, we were able to provide a quick turnaround for our client’s shim order. After determining the appropriate machining process by working with a client supplied drawing, Aerospace Alloys decided to use stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium base materials. Once we acquired the materials, we abrasive waterjet cut the shims to the desired finished size.
Once complete, each shim featured a material thickness between .010” and .032” and a product diameter between 4” and 18”. The tightest tolerance we upheld was +/- .005” during machining. As a result of our superior waterjet cutting methods, we were able to meet and surpass our client’s expectations. We delivered the order to ...
